Angel hadn't met Kit on The Pier or the private dancer store. They'd met at a diner. It'd been almost normal, as normal as anything is. They'd both been sitting at the counter. Angel with just a coffee and a cigarette.

She'd stop counting the number of times they'd met now, though it's nothing more than a chat in the diner, almost as if meeting by coincidence. It's not easy for it to be anything other than that. As kind as Kit seems, she doesn't have the luxury of trust.

Despite that, this time after they finish eating she hesitates a moment. She's much more careful with her feelings than she used to be, expectations much lower than she knows that she deserves. "Do you want to go for a walk?"
