“You know, I sometimes wonder how a person like that would feel if the shoe were on the other foot. Wait a minute! That’s an idea! For once I’m going to turn the tables.

"It's always good to find someone who can appreciates weird. It feels like it's a lost art these days." The words come with a grin of her own, and Alex drops her elbow onto the bar, and then she just rests her chin on top of it, studying him with that entirely amused expression still on her face.

"Don't you hate disappearing friends?" It happened all too often at places like this, but Alex wasn't complaining in the slightest. Instead she was glad, because the lack of friends had given them a chance to talk like this. And she was enjoying it. "It's close to my hotel, honestly. I didn't expect it to be so crowded."

"I think more people are all for weird more than you know," Liam says but no one wants to admit it anymore.

"They're the worst but I guess I wouldn't be talking to you if they were still around," no, that's not true. He's often the disappearing friend himself and all.

"So what brings you to town?" you know, the hotel comment and all. "This place is always crowded, though."

“Well that’s probably true. We’re all a little weird and a little mad sometimes.” The words are a grin and she just shrugged a bit with them. Honestly Alex was quite often the disappearing friend only it was from people’s lives and not just bars. That’s what happened when you’re friends with a workaholic after all.

“I should have known that about Boston and being so close to MIT I guess. Oh well, I don’t really mind because it means I got to meet you.” She gives him a broad grin before taking a sip of her drink.

“I’m in Boston on a story actually. Meeting with some people on symbology and particle physics. Well, one professor on particle physics anyway. He was there when CERN started I guess. But he can’t see me until tomorrow.”

He’d blown her off today but people (in most cases) only tended to make that mistake once.

“Oh that was really smooth. Do you say that to all the guys you meet?” Liam teases her but honestly he is just as bad when it comes to cheesy lines, probably worse but they always seem to work. Apparently they work on him too.

Liam raises a brow at the explanation of why she’s here. “What exactly are you working on?” He’s a scientist, he’s naturally curious okay. Probably as terrible as Alex.

Alex just laughs softly at that, and she shrugs a bit. "Actually, I'm not really in the habit of doing this anymore. So no, I suppose." The words come with a charming grin before she considers what he asked her about.

"Sacred geometry and Neopythagoreanism. Sort of. It's kind of a long story really. Have you heard of The Black Tapes Podcast?" Sometimes it was easier to go along with the short hand rather than the long. It tended to save her from sounding crazy.

Sometimes.
