Simon furrows his brow and he’s cold too but he’s not sure how this helps exactly. It’s a strange feeling to have her so close and it makes it harder to concentrate.
“What does that have to do with it?” It might be him being slightly obtuse even though he didn’t try to dislodge her again.
"Seriously?" The word is just asked with a frown and Alex just moves closer again, because she's Alex and of course what are boundaries and things like that. "I'm cold, and the best way to warm up is body heat. It's what you're supposed to do if you're freezing cold and stuff." She grabs his blanket off the edge of the bed and wraps it firmly around them once more, before settling her head once more on his shoulder.
“I’m cold too,” Simon points out, but he lets her have her way for now since there is very little he can do to stop her as she’d just keep persisting in the way she always does when she gets set on something.
“If you’re cold,” she announced calmly, keeping her eyes on him and her tone matter of fact, “then put your arm around me.” Less calmly she added, “besides I’m not going outside there’s like a foot of snow out there, Simon. I’m staying here until they plow out the paths back to my dorm.” It was a common sense move from someone who didn’t normally have any so it wasn’t like there was room for argument there.
Simon couldn't exactly argue with her reasoning, though, he thought a short trek in the snow might have more pros by the end of the journey than cons.
Instead he still doesn't move his arms, hands on the book he's holding. "I'm still studying," he says, reason for not putting his arm around her. He's still getting used to the whole human contact thing.
Alex just sighs dramatically for a moment, and moves so that her head is dropped directly into his lap. It's not that Alex Reagan is a cat sometimes, it's just that she is exactly a cat especially when she wants attention. "Now you're not." The words are an announcement with a little bit of a smile.
Well, that just makes Alex sigh rather dramatically, and she rolled her eyes in exaggerated fashion at that. There was a little bit of a whine in her voice and her hand passed over her face and her eyes. "I'm bored, Simon. A girl can't study all the time, especially when she's already cold. It's just not gonna work."
"Maybe not, but I definitely study a hell of a lot more than everyone else it feels like. Between doing school to keep up my grades so I can stay on the Dean's List so my parents don't kill me, and everything I need to do so I can save the world? Yeah. Way too much studying, Simon. So, I'm bored and cold and impossible and that's okay."
