They were on separate pages and didn’t even know it. But Tommy just shrugged. It was something he could work with. Even if he wasn’t sure WHY Gar liked this room in particular.

“Okay. I mean, the room looks a bit public but I won’t complain. I’m gonna clean up if that’s okay. Maybe, like, group text your people that I am here?”

"It's...my space," Gar says. It's where he'd lived when he lived here. There's a bed across the other side of it. He just chilled on the couch most of the time because of the tv's position. And yeah... Cliff kind of came in and out as he wanted without knocking most of the time but Gar didn't mind it.

"The basement was basically my room before when I lived here." He bit his lip a little at the mention of texting.

"That's okay. Uh... I'll just... go tell them," Because cell phones weren't really a thing with them.

“If it’s what you want, then it’s perfect.”

It isn’t perfect by half. There need to be new blankets and pillows in mass. That smell like Tommy. And a lock on the door. His own fridge. Maybe a microwave? What to expecting Omegas need? Tommy has to do research. Soon. Would ask Billy to tell him but Billy would figure out why. Dammit.

"You don't like it do you?" Gar asks, not wanting to move away from the other as he nuzzles the other's shoulder.

"All that I need is you... and to stop being nauseous," he snorts a little, trying to make a joke.

Does he like it? No. Will he accept what his Omega wants? Yes. Though if they're having kids he supposes he should use mate more consistently. Ugh, this is all so weird. For all his talk and bluster when they slept with each other, he hadn't intended to have kids. Probably not ever.

"You deserve somewhere with lots of sun and warmth. Basements are where... where things that aren't wanted are put away."

But the stop being nauseous... oh dear. Tommy pries himself from Gar's arms.

"You're feeling sick to your stomach? I could... I could get you something? Ginger ale? Do you like ginger ale?"

Gar hadn’t really intended to have kids either — at least not so soon and he’s more than a little scared about the whole thing. He can barely even think past the pregnancy itself. But now Tommy is here, his Alpha — his mate. It already makes things feel a little easier.

Gar makes a low whining noise when Tommy pulls away. He doesn’t argue about basements but it’s not how he sees this place at all. “Yeah. I mean it’s alright.”

The guy likes his orange soda but it’s not really helping the nausea much.

Alright then. There is a plan.

"You go upstairs, slowly and carefully and tell them I'm crashing here. I'll clean this place up and get you stuff for your stomach. I'll find something if I have to run this whole damn world for it."

Doting alpha? Yeah, he was that. In fact, Tommy was probably going to drive Gar crazy.

Gar eyes Tommy and he smiles just a little before stealing a quick kiss.

"You don't need to overdo it," he told him but he gets up all the same. The sooner everything Tommy wants to do is satisfied the sooner Gar can just curl up into his arms.

If Gar really thinks Tommy won't overdo it, he's just mad. This was a guy that felt like he needed to prove himself. To do this right. Because Gar had thought he was going to run. And now, instead, he was trying his hardest to prove the assumption had been wrong.

"Just do that, please? I'll get the other stuff. I can probably get Billy to portal me when I need it. Since I don't even know where the fuck we are."

Gar knows that Tommy will he just needs him to know that Gar doesn't need or expect him to. His hand brushes over Tommy's arm and it's a lingering contact and it's probably clear what he'd rather be doing. He exhales and pushes one hand through his hair.

"They'll want to meet you but I can probably hold them off on that until tomorrow."

Well, they can cuddle once the room is all set up like a proper nest to keep Gar safe and warm and comfortable. Dammit, he wants to do this right.

"They can wait a few hours until I can take care of you."

Gar smiles a little and he reaches to touch Tommy's cheek in a quick affectionate gesture.

"I'll be back in a few minutes then," he tells him, scratching the back of his head. He feels a little self-conscious about leaving Tommy there with the complete mess he's made of the area since he'd been staying there.

He'd head upstairs to find Cliff first and then he'd tell Larry. If Rita was feeling up to it he'd talk to her but she wasn't always interested in company or conversation and he really didn't want to tell her through a door.

By the time Gar comes back downstairs all the clutter is gone and there is a new mound of pillows and ALL the blankets from Tommy’s bed piled on and around the couch. In fact, it could we’ll be it was just all Tommy’s bedding. And look, Billy was here too, having a quiet argument with Tommy.

“Why do you even need a magical window?”

“To change the view,” Tommy counters.

“Yeah, but why do you need a magical window in a random basement who knows where and what is with the bedding? Are you tired of apartment life?”

Gar looks exhausted by the time he'd gotten back downstairs. Cliff had made things difficult but Larry was excited at the prospect of feeding Tommy -- the simple joys, right? Rita hadn't been up for visiting and Gar had been happy to return back down to his own room. He looks confused for a moment when he sees not only Tommy but Billy.

"Tommy..." Gar says and he raises an eyebrow. "You don't need a magical window. And we're in Ohio."

There is always a challenge to feeding a speedster, isn't there? And one that was spending so much energy to protect a mate might be worse.

"But you should be able to see the city. Or the beach. Or a forest," Tommy protests, by Gar's side in a second and nuzzling his neck. "Anything to make our space perfect."

The word 'our' gets a raised eyebrow from Billy.

"And here I thought this morning you were ready to tell him off for being inconsiderate and missing your anniversary," Billy muses aloud to them both. "Hey Gar. Teddy says he missed out on practice with you. I'm supposed to tell you that he's getting the horse legs down a bit better if I see you. He's really set on this centaur thing."

And Larry would be more than happy to rise to the challenge, because honestly he was always a bit disappointed that not everyone in the house could eat or eat a lot. Robots don't eat after all even if they used to be human.

"I don't... need that for it to be perfect, Tommy," Gar leans to Tommy and he feels more shy than he usually would around people. But if Billy hasn't found out the truth yet it wouldn't take long with them being in the same room.

"Well, there was a good explanation for that?" Gar mumbles, a bit ashamed still of the fact he hadn't been honest with Tommy from the start. But he grins at the update about Teddy. "I know he can do it."

“A good explanation?” Billy asked.

“And this is where you go home to your centaur man,” Tommy declares, back at his brother and pushing him toward the portal.

Gar frowns when Tommy starts to push Billy toward the portal. He hugged his arms around himself and moved to drop down into the blankets and pillows while Tommy dealt with that.

He’d wait until they were alone to ask Tommy anything.

It takes a bit of quick talking and promises as he shoves his brother through the portal. When it closes he returns to Gar in a blur, hugging him.

“Tell me what you need.”

Gar watches Tommy and Billy until he is in Tommy’s arms. He shakes his head.

“I don’t need anything,” he shakes his head. “You’ve already done a lot...”

“You don’t want Billy to know?”

"It's not like that," Tommy says at all, holding Gar so close. Scenting him because he needs to smell his lover close and safe and hopefully content in his arms.

"Billy is... he'd be worse than me. He'd try and magic everything you want and might need. Even if you don't need it. And he's going to be SO gushy when it happens. I just... want this to be mine for a little bit."

Gar relaxes further as the other scents him, keeps him close and he feels safe with him. He hadn't exactly felt unsafe before but he'd been anxious and unhappy.

He tilted his head to look at Tommy and he seems a little relieved by the answer because maybe there'd been a little bit of worry that Tommy was ashamed of this, or him or ... something.

"Okay. I was worried..." he trails off and he feels a bit ashamed of it now that that's where he'd gone first instead of why Tommy really hid it.

Ashamed? No, Tommy was only ashamed of himself. Because the guy had thought, probably correctly, that Tommy would be like that. Which was disgusting. He was... going to try and do his best to prove it wrong.

"You know I haven't hid you even one bit since we started down this road, Gar. It's more... I want this to be mine. For a little while let this just be mine."

Gar smiles then and Tommy's right about that. He shifts a little again only so he can lean in to kiss him briefly. He tucks his head down against the other's shoulder after that. His hand moving to grab one of Tommy's and slowly pulling it to rest of his stomach. It's still early but Tommy would be able to feel the difference in his body already.

"It's ours for now," he says. It's what he'd wanted from the moment he'd found out even if the whole idea of going through this was terrifying he had just wanted to share it with Tommy.

Oh wow, their... their kid must be growing right there, right? Oh god. Tommy can't help how his hand shakes with nervousness. What if he does this all wrong?

"I don't know how to be a good dad."
