Yeah, he's good with that. Tommy smiles and nods and stretches. "Where's there a store near here? Don't wanna waste time searching."

[garrrr]

Gar shifts a bit and he would offer to go with him but it'd be faster for Tommy to just go. So he gives him quick directions to the nearest grocery store. It's not far at all even by normal travel standards.

"Maybe some ginger ale too?"

"You got it."

And Tommy is gone. Takes him twenty minutes to get back because check outs. And yeah, there's everything. He's got bags with soup and crackers and ginger ale and lots of other bland staples. Things they can try. And a mound of snacks for himself.

Gar yawns when Tommy leaves and curls up in all the pillows and everything the other had set up for him. It still doesn't take very long for Tommy to get back and he'd already been antsy in that space of twenty minutes.

"Got everything you need?"

[doubled_speed]

"Nah. But I can get more stuff when you take a nap or something," he says. And then he's gone for a second and back with a microwave. Which he plugs in. "Gonna warm this up."

Gar smiles as he shifts to watch the other with everything, shifting one of the pillows as he gets more comfortable.

"I'm so glad you're here, Tommy..."

[doubled_speed]

"Yeah, me too," Tommy smiles as he starts prepping the food. "Because I hate to think you might have been right."

[garrrr]

"We could forget about that, you know..." Gar says, curled up comfortably and watching Tommy with no small amount of affection.

[doubled_speed]

"Could forget about what?"

[garrrr]

"About me being scared you'd run. You keep bringing it up," Gar bites his lip a little and he can't help but still feel the traces of guilt about it.

"Because... I'm scared I'd have run," Tommy answers. The fact that Gar thinking he would was what made him stay. "I hate myself for that."

[garrrr]

"I don't want you to hate yourself, Tommy," Gar exhales and well he always tended to have a hard time with Tommy's more negative thoughts.

[doubled_speed]

"You're... one of the only things in my life that I don't hate about myself, okay?"

It's his major failing. All his life he was raised and belittled and then he was a weapon and then... Gar's been the redeeming thing. It will take a bit more time until he really buys it all.

"I'm..."

Time to admit something hard. And he looks up at Gar, and there's really vulnerability on his features for a change.

"I'm scared I'm going to lose you. And now that this is happening, there is so much more to lose. I spent most of my life losing people I loved. Or that should have loved me."

[garrrr]

Gar sits up, his eyes trained on Tommy and he tilts his head as the other makes that admission. He'd never really have expected Tommy to say something that raw and vulnerable.

"Tommy, you're not going to lose me," Gar reassures him, or he tries anyway. He knows that it's going to take more time than this. There's only so much that words can do. "You're not going to lose our kid either."

“People leave,” Tommy counters. But he looks at Gar a bit softer. “But I don’t mind staying around to let you prove me wrong.”

And he liked the idea of making a real home with the guy.

[garrrr]

"It'll be one of the greatest joys of my life to prove you wrong," Gar grins a little again and he looked down at this lap. It's still hard to believe all this is real but one thing he knows is that he's not leaving Tommy.

If he hadn't already dropped a bomb on him there's words that are just there on the tip of his tongue but he probably shouldn't push his luck just yet.

"Definitely a smaller joy than this, right," Tommy asks, moving to his mate's side with some heated soup, his hand coming out to stroke over Gar's stomach. Their kid had to be better.

[garrrr]

Gar smiles at that. Yeah, Tommy is going to be an amazing dad -- he just knows it. He exhales a little at the hand on his stomach and he glances at the soup.

"Definitely," he says, content and happy and he nods toward the soup. "Thank you."

Thing is, Tommy's great with kids. Always has been.

"Gladly. Now eat up. I want to make sure you're both well fed. That's what I'm supposed to say to be manly man jock alpha, right?"

Yes, he stands against stereotypes. But this is funny.

[garrrr]

That's definitely not something that Gar would doubt at all. Gar snorts and rolls his eyes as he takes the soup and starts to eat, eying the other.

"This is going to your head already."

[doubled_speed]

"Which head?" Tommy counters, smiling. It's not. He feels... so like he's failed his boyfriend here. Getting him pregnant and all of that.

[garrrr]

"Knowing you? Both," Gar retorts but he's not being particularly serious. He curls up into the pillows again as he eats, eying Tommy.

"Make yourself something too?"

"I couldn't eat," Tommy admits. Which is saying a lot. He's a bottomless pit at they both know it. But he's so excited, so anxious, so nervous that he doesn't think he could do a bite right now.

[garrrr]

Gar looks a little concerned at that as he eats. He's pretty sure he's never seen Tommy turn down food before. He doesn't stop eating his own soup, though.

"Are you okay, really?"

Is he okay? Yes. He's better than okay in some ways. Except... There's another thing going on. A lot of other things.

"You ever get so excited that you can't think about anything but that?"
