"Onward my chariot then," Gar grins briefly.

Tommy hums happily and while his hand does have to leave Gar’s stomach, he lifts the man gently. He doesn’t fun fast, he doesn’t want to upset that stomach. So tender, so nervous. Instead he just carries his lover and puts him down gently on the mound of pillows.

He shifts around and settles once the other put him down on the pillows.

"You're being so good to me."

“I’m... I’m meant to do that,” Tommy counters as he lays down with Gar, curling around his body and putting his head, and a hand, on Gar’s stomach.

“I’ll get you a ring. I should have before this.”

[garrrr]

“Tommy....” Gar says softly, his fingers brushing through Tommy’s hair and idly playing with it.

“You don’t have to do that.”

[doubled_speed]

And if he wants to? If he feels he needs to? Someone tell him how to do this. How to be someone’s partner and everything.

“We’re mates.”

[garrrr]

Gar can’t help but worry that it’s some weird pressure that Tommy’s now putting on himself and not because he actually wants to.

“We are... I just... you don’t have to.”

[doubled_speed]

“And if I want to?” he asks, voice soft. Because he can’t imagine being without Gar. Especially not now.

[garrrr]

“Then I’d love that,” Gar says and he’s speaking just as softly. He curls some of his hair around his index finger. “As long as you want to.”

[doubled_speed]

Tommy shivers slightly in pleasure from the fingers in his hair.

“I marked you, didn’t I?”

[garrrr]

Gar bites his lip at that reminder and his other hand idly went to the spot.

“Yes,” he says. “Sometimes, I guess I still wait for the other shoe to drop.”

Which isn’t on Tommy. Gar came with his own issues and baggage.

"Me too."

Who is to say this isn't the other shoe?

[garrrr]

Maybe it is. Gar exhales a little and his fingers keep petting through Tommy’s hair and something about the others head and hand on his stomach seems to have calmed his nausea a bit for the moment.

“We will figure everything out eventually.

“You think... there is any chance I’ll be good at this? I mean you’re the only one who can tell me how good I am as a partner.”

As a boyfriend. As a potential father. As a lot of things.

[garrrr]

Gar smiles then at that. He leans over to press a light kiss to Tommy's forehead despite the awkward angle before settling back again.

"I know you'll be good at this, Tommy. You're good to me. You'll be good for our baby too, I know it."

Gar believes in the endless potential of Tommy.

Oh what a powerful word that was. Powerful two words. Our baby. Something be both longed for and still didn’t believe. Probably wouldn’t until Gar was showing.

“Our baby. God, Gar. We’re gonna have a kid. We’re barely adults ourselves. We fucked on a rooftop on Boston and both half HOPED to get caught. What are guys like us gonna teach a kid?”

Yeah. Here’s his panic. But he is making NO motion to move.

Gar could tell Tommy was panicking and it kind of made him feel a rise of anxiety and panic himself but he pushed it down because he couldn’t calm Tommy down if he was freaking out too. His hand returned to soothingly petting through Tommy’s hair and it mattered so much that Tommy might be panicking but he wasn’t moving away from him even a little bit. When Gar had found out he hadn’t been able to stay still so he would have understood it if Tommy got up... but he was there, his head and hand on his stomach. Gar could already imagine when there would be more of a bump there than the more indescriminate weight gain...

“Our sex life kind of has nothing to do with what we’d teach a kid,” Gar says after a few seconds. “You’ll teach him to be fair and to stand up for what’s right and not let people take advantage of others. I’ll teach him how to believe in people when they don’t believe in themselves.”

Fair enough on the sex life front. But mostly Tommy's focused on nuzzling against that damn good body right there, against hat stomach. His kid. Right there. Waiting for them to be ready. Considerate like that, so clearly the kid already takes after daddy Gar because Tommy was ALWAYS earlier than expected and NEVER considerate about timing.

"All those things you said seem more like your wheelhouse."

[garrrr]

Gar shakes his head, fingers twisting in Tommy’s hair again. He shifts just slightly, settling just a bit more comfortably.

“You’re still underestimating yourself.”

Gar knows he’s capable of so much.

"Maybe, but I doubt it," Tommy counters, and if his words are a bit more slurred, it's because he's trying hard to just breathe in all the scent of Gar.

[garrrr]

Gar smiles and he can’t help it when it comes to Tommy and he likes the way the other is definitely wrapped up in him and their baby. He knows Tommy is going to be a good dad and that gives him a lot of peace of mind.

“One day you might see yourself how I see you.”

[doubled_speed]

"Can't. Don't have a constant mirror," Tommy counters, because the snark is a defensive measure. They both know it. "But you and this kid? I'll give both of your stupid asses the world."

[garrrr]

"Idiot," Gar says affectionately, fingers rubbing lightly at the other's scalp.

"Hey, don't call our kid stupid, you'll give them a complex."

[doubled_speed]

"They'll be smarter than me," Tommy answers, finally lifting his head to look at Gar. "I want him to be like you."

[garrrr]

Gar furrows his brow as he looks at Tommy. His hand slips from his hair and strokes along his jaw gently.

"I want him to be like us both." His thumb brushes along his chin and then his bottom lip.
