Theon still just couldn't be certain. It was hard to believe that he could
have finally got out of Ramsay's clutches. It was only for Sansa. Theon...
Reek would have never done it for himself. But Sansa? He couldn't let her
story end there like that. She deserved better than that fate and she had
deserved better than the things he had failed to protect her from
already...
Perhaps, she is right and for now they are safe but still.
Theon wanted to protest but he didn't, letting her pull off the soaked
tatters that passed for gloves. Ramsay didn't see fit to clothe Reek very
well regardless of how cold it might be.
"We shouldn't have stopped," he said after a moment.
"Better here than blinded by snow," she says, setting his gloves aside. She takes his mutilated hands in hers, cupping them to warm them.
"We'll only stay until it dies down. Then we'll keep moving." The Wall couldn't be too far, now, could it? How long had they been running? Truly, she wanted to lay down, to close her eyes and let sleep take her. But sleeping in weather like this was another way to die quickly.
Maybe that's true. He nearly draws his hands away from her but in the end he lets her warm them. She still needed him so he couldn't just die. If he had been alone that's probably what he would have chosen to do.
"It could be like this for a while, Sansa."
She knew that already he was sure but maybe she was ignoring that fact.
Theon knows that she is right. There would only be so far they could get in this condition. Sansa would probably be better off without him. He felt weak and slow and she needed to move fast to keep from being recaptured. But he doesn't say so out loud, Sansa would protest and the less spoken the better. So he just remains quiet.

"I was born in Winter, Theon. You need not tell me of snow." She was the only Stark child who had.
