Truth be told, it was something Poe was still marveling over as well, the one thing he thought he'd never have, and while it was... not exactly what he'd been expecting, he wasn't going to complain because it was better. The nursery was in what had been his old room, and they hadn't done much redecorating, in that all his model ships were still hanging from the ceiling, and really all they'd done was take down the posters and replace the wallpaper border around the center of the walls with something more kid-friendly, in this case cartoon animals in many different cartoon vehicles.
"Well if that's your way of saying we should head across the border and get a hotel room for the night, I'm in." His smile spread, "But if you're saying we should just go get dinner and maybe a movie and be back before dawn, I'm good with that too."
Michael grins at the two options Poe gives and he glances back toward the nursery. They both needed to have some quality time without their baby but it is still strange thinking of being away overnight but he knew what Isobel would say to do. He crosses the distance to Poe to press a quick kiss to his cheek and then drops down onto the couch.
“How about dinner, a room and maybe a movie or maybe part of a movie?”
He made a thoughtful sound at that, nodding as he let a hand settle against the small of Michael's back, "Mm, actual sit-down dinner or room-service dinner?" It was an important question, really, because it would determine just how far away they were going, at least, in theory.
Though, either way they probably wouldn't actually cross the state line, though they might go as far as Lovington, but that would be about it, more than likely they'd just cross over out of the city proper and into the surrounding area, because that was how they tended to things, neither of them really liked being too far from home, especially now.
Michael contemplates and honestly he’s never been much for sit down dinners in restaurants but he’s done it a few times for Poe because he’s pretty sure the other does like them, at least every now and then.
“Room service sounds good to me.” More time alone, really alone.
A sit-down dinner once in a while, either for a special occasion or a just-because was about as often as Poe liked them, just to remind himself that he was allowed to do that kind of thing, allowed to like being out where there were people.
For now, however, he just wanted to spend some time with Michael, and staying in for the night, even if it meant leaving home to do so, sounded just about perfect. Which was why he nodded at the answer, pressing a kiss to the top of the other man's head, "I think I know just the place."
"Of course you do," Michael comments lightly and glances at the other.
"It's going to be weird isn't it?" Michael is excited but he couldn't really deny there isn't already a part of his brain worried about leaving for an entire night. What if something went wrong?
"Of course I do." He agreed, but he nodded at the actual question, arms sliding up over Michael's shoulders to drape his hands gently against the back of the other man's neck, petting lightly at his hair with just fingertips, "It is. But you know better than I do what Iz would do to keep that kid safe."
But that was most of the reason why Poe was even considering leaving, even just for the night, because he knew their daughter was in good hands.

Poe had a way of calming Michael down, quieting the chaos that was ever present. He bites the corner of his own lip as he meets the other's eyes, a pleasant buzz at the petting to his hair.
"Yeah," Michael agrees. Isobel would do anything that Michael would do to protect Nora.
"And we aren't going to be too far away anyway..."
Apparently half an hour outside of town was as far as they were both willing to go, but it was still something, still counted for a night out, and as he'd claimed, Poe knew a place. It was actually pretty ritzy as far as these things went, no monogrammed robes, but high-quality room service, and a room with a view, not that Poe figured they'd be enjoying that part much, but that was beside the point.
He stretched once they were in the room proper, humming a little at the hush of the place, which meant there was good soundproofing, something else he wasn't sure if they'd need, but it was nice to have if they did, "Almost too fancy for a one-night stay." He concluded, amusement laced through the statement.
Michael takes in the room and it's really nicer than he would have ever expected. He would have been happy with a cheap motel but this is certainly a step up and the promise of good room service is appealing certainly.
"Probably, but don't think I could take more than one night," he admits and it probably would be a long time before he could stand to be away from their child for longer than that. He might still be obsessively checking his phone for messages from Isobel every couple minutes.
Poe smiled, shaking his head, "You say that like you think either of us is actually going to manage the whole night." They would, but only because he knew neither of them really wanted the lecture that would follow if they didn't.
Besides, one night wouldn't be so difficult, especially since it was already past six.
He kicked off his shoes and went to find the room service menu, flopping over onto the bed to read it, cocking his head, "C'mere, take a look at this."
Michael laughs a little and it's probably true but Isabel had also made
some threats at him about coming home before morning. It really isn't the
worst thing to have a night just to themselves even if he was going to be
missing their baby something awful. Michael follows suit and drops down
beside Poe, shifting close to him as he glances at the menu.
"God me too, drive felt longer than it actually was." He shook his head, then, "So appetizer sampler platter and a pizza? Or burgers?" He knew that any of it was going to be good, "Or just two sampler platters? They've got a couple options for them."
It was... well it was surprisingly nice, having the night to themselves, even though he knew he was going to worry about the baby, even knowing she was in good hands.
That was definitely true and he wondered if the same would hold when they return but he's doing his best not to think about it and the fact that it's hard not to just want to go home. They have to get used to this and they needed some time to themselves -- Iz is right about that as much as Michael sometimes hates to give her the credit about it.
"Two platters sounds good to me," Michael says and it means more variety and less choices honestly. He smiles as he glances over Poe, leaning closer to him.
"Well of course." He replied with a smile, "Can't spend the night in a place like this, order room service for dinner and just not order dessert."
He twisted over to pick up the phone, already checking dessert options as he gave their room number and their order and a polite 'thank you ma'am.' before hanging up, "Should be about twenty minutes." He arched a brow, "What can we get up to in twenty minutes that doesn't end with traumatizing some poor waiter?"
Michael snorts a bit at that and leans back as the other orders. The room is nice, nicer than most places that Michael's stayed before Poe. He reaches to brush his hand through the other's hair, drawing him close.
"Probably," he agreed, amused, "but they really don't get paid enough for that." His own hands had settled at Michael's hips, though they slid around to lace his fingers against the small of Michael's back, drawing him just a little closer in turn, "Which means we've got to behave, for a little while."
Not that he was going to be on his best behavior, as his next move was to press a kiss to the corner of Michael's mouth, humming softly as he did so.
Michael makes a sound that might be a bit of a scoff. There's a flutter of heat that teases when the other's hands settle on his hips before drawing him closer. There definitely hadn't been a lot of sexual intimacy since the baby had been born. But there's a promise of it that hangs in the air that draws an easy reaction from Michael.
"I'm not that good at behaving," Michael says offhandedly and his head tilts at the kiss to the corner of his mouth so that he can press a fuller kiss to Poe's mouth.
His previous amusement spilled over into an actual low chuckle at that more solid kiss, just returning it in kind even as his hands splayed against Michael's back, one staying at the dip above his tailbone while the other slid up to press against the middle of his back, penning him in close and dipping him slowly as he deepened that kiss.
He didn't plan on letting things get too far before their dinner arrived, but that didn't mean it wasn't going to happen anyway, neither of them was really great with that kind of plan.
Michael continues to kiss him, hungry and it's been so long. He wraps an arm around him as the other keeps him close, pressing him downward. Michael could honestly care less about not letting things go to far. It had been a long time and now that there's a moment to breathe to be at peace in each other's presence the desires bubbled to the surface and he drags him even closer.
He did, finally, let go of the kiss so they could both take a moment to catch their breath.
Not that this was what Poe did with his time, no instead he adjusted his grasp to draw Michael that much closer, apparently just so that he could bury his face against the crook of his neck, breathing him in slow and steady and with intent for more as soon as was feasible.
Michael groans lowly when the kiss breaks, and he does suck in a good
breath as their bodies press closer and the warmth of Poe is overwhelming
and the intimacy of the way their bodies fit together. His head tilts back
as the other's face pressed into his neck, closing his eyes. His hands draw
down the other's back to his ass to pull their hips closer together.
He just made a soft sound in the back of his throat, almost a purr though just a little too rough, but at the same time too soft at the edges to be anything else.
One hand tangled through Michael's hair again as the other caught at his hip in return, keeping him pressed close, not wanting to draw away just yet even though he knew he'd have to soon enough if the plan was not to startle their room service delivery.
The other's noises are always just... so good for Michael. He kisses him hungrily, the other's fingers in his hair and it's the simple things like that that really do michael in now. And he also knows they shouldn't keep going that it would make stopping all that much harder.
Instead of following that thought, he rocks his hips into Poe's.
The movement got another low-throated sound out of him, reluctant to pull away and only getting more-so, though he finally did, lips brushing against Michael's throat as he murmured: Soon, soon I will be all yours to do with as you will. But right now, right now we need to stop, just for a few minutes, just until dinner gets here and then we can do whatever you want."
A quick kiss to the pulse point there, still not ready to draw away completely, "Promise."
