Gar is quiet a little bit after that, nuzzling his face into the others shoulder.

“You’re really sure you don’t want to wait until Rita is a little older?”

"I want what you want," TOmmy counters. "But someday maybe you'll want it, and we can have a larger family.

“I do want it, Tommy,” Gar frowns but doesn’t lift his head. “I just worry, we’ll do it and neither of us will really be ready.”

"Life... doesn't allow for ready all the time," Tommy reminds him. But he loves it anwyay.

"I know..." Gar exhales and he curls in a little more to Tommy.

"How many do you want, Tommy?"

"Two," Tommy answers. "So they always have each other. Maybe three. Not more, not intentionally."

Not that their Rita was intentional.

Gar brushes his fingers through Tommy's hair as he stayed curled into him.
