Maps. Maps will be useful for the quest. And where else to find maps but in the Great Library of Imladris? Erestor lifts his head as Merry walks into the Library from where he was bent over a scroll, frowing.
Merry clearly hadn't thought his plan through very deeply as he definitely didn't expect anyone else to be in the library. He stopped short as if caught doing something he shouldn't be doing -- which is what it felt like often enough here and often enough he was doing something he probably strictly shouldn't be.
"Meriadoc Brandybuck! But you can just call me Merry. It's nice to meet you. I was looking for maps... seems like that'd be useful with adventures and everything," Merry explained and well either this Elf would assist him or shoo him off.
"I see!" Erestor doesn't smile, but his eyes light up with approval. "That is a very good thought."
He nods briskly and stands, putting the scroll he was working away neatly.
"Come, let us see what we can find. I fear most of the maps here are quite large, and unsuitable for travelling, but if you see any that you think might be useful, we can arrange to have them copied."
He leads Merry to a particular section, and gestures at the wall.
"That one there is obviously far too large, but it should give you a rough idea of distances, although it is woefully out of date."
As it still lists Lindon and Eregion, amongst others, long since vanished.
"There should be more up to date ones here too, give me a moment."
