Huaisang smiles and he glances over the other. He does like Billy's clothes as odd as they are but people don't really understand them maybe with time. However, making an effort to connect with their culture can go along way. "I can have some robes made for you," he nods, eyes mirthful at the idea.

They are less odd and more... suitable to his own native land. But he is pleased with it anyway. Because he considers it fair.

“That is a kindness you do me, my dear,” he says, trying to be polite and formal. He isn’t very good at this, okay?

Yes, the walk had only been to settle him, hadn’t it? Somehow Billy had forgotten it in the pleasure of the magic.

“Yes. I think I am. But be patient with me, I’m not familiar with your foods. Teach me how to eat them right if I’m doing it wrong.”

"As long as you enjoy it there is not too much you can do wrong," Huaisang assures him and starts to lead him back the way they had come.

"I'm not very good at the magic my Sect is known for."

“I can look like an uncultured buffoon,” Billy counters. “That serves no one well.”

Magic is... complicated.

“I could try and teach you some of mine.”

"It's just me right now," Huaisang points out and he shakes his head at the other's offer.

"No. I know what I'm good at."

“And what are you good at?” Billy asks. If they are to wed, he supposes he should know what he should expect here.

"Daoist magic and astronomy," Huaisang answers, leading him back to where the food is. "I'm quite the disappointment. The Nie Sect wield blades and our blades have spirits and that is where we cultivate our magic. Martial arts is what is respected here."

Oh, stars. Billy’s eyes light up at that. No, he liked the thought of that.

“I can’t do martial arts, but I always wanted to o learn the stars. My grandfather thought it wasn’t fitting for a prince. Will you teach me?”

"I can try," Huaisang says, lifting a shoulder. "It doesn't often come in handy really but my brother does acknowledge I'm the best at it."

And when it is needed it's crucial.

Huaisang smiles. This...may not be so bad after all. Billy really does seem like a good man, one he could like and one who he thinks would treat him well even given their circumstances.
