It's dark enough outside that Lan Xichen can't quite see the details of her face, only a faint impression to pair with the outline of her features - but then, he also isn't particularly looking too closely. Her smile is lovely, certainly, but it's of little interest to him.
He ignores the comment on his appearance, though his friendly smile doesn't slip at all.
"Thank you." He sets the glass of soda down on a table before sinking into the open seat, running a hand absently through his hair. "I found myself in need of a break."
It thoroughly amuses him that not even after speaking does Xichen figure it
out. He takes a sip of his drink as he continues to study the man with a
bit of a coy look.
"You don't attend these sort of parties often do you?" Huaisang questions,
knowing the answer of course but it's a fair assessment for a strange rto
guess as well.
There is a small, slightly self-deprecating smile at that, though he does not appear at all offended by the question. "Is it that obvious?"
It clearly is, though, and it isn't the kind of question he really expects a response to.
"My soon to be brother in law is hosting, and I wanted to support him," he says. There's a pause, as he picks up his glass of soda to take a sip. "Do you often come to Wei Wuxian's parties?"
"Are you good friends with him, then, or simply here for the atmosphere?"
He'd thought he knew all of those in Wei Wuxian's inner friend circle, considering how closely it intersected with his own. But then, Wei Wuxian wouldn't be Wei Wuxian if he wasn't endearing himself to unexpected people all the time.
"We're very good friends," Huaisang says and he tries not to laugh. He can
imagine Xichen trying to place this stranger. Huaisang continues drinking
until he's finished his and he looks Xichen over again.
His brows furrow, and he shifts his weight slightly, resettling in the chair at the same time as he tries to get a closer look at her - without doing something so obvious as leaning forward to get a better look at her face.
He's distracted enough that her question takes him off guard. "Ah. I'm very taken, I'm afraid. It wouldn't feel right, lovely as you are."
Technically, he and Huaisang have not talked about exclusivity, and he certainly wouldn't expect Huaisang to turn down a dance with someone else, but he knows where his heart lies.
Huaisang has a hard time not laughing at Xichen’s reaction but it also
makes him feel kind of warm too… He didn’t want to even dance with anyone
else? Huaisang bit the corner of his lip. Taken.
“I asked for a dance not a kiss,” Huaisang counters, raising a brow. “Is
the person you’re with that jealous?”
There's something incredibly familiar about her that he can't quite place. He catches just a glimpse of that lip bite in the dim outdoor light, and for a moment he almost - but it slips away at her question. Would Huaisang be jealous? Probably not, at least not of just a dance, but his theoretical jealousy isn't the point.
"It is not a reflection on them. Only that I would be a poor dancing partner, with my heart so firmly spoken for." He offers her a small smile. "I'm not much one for this kind of dancing anyway."
Only mostly true. Get a drink in him and he is very fond of dancing, and will very enthusiastically agree to any kind. But he is sober, and in this kind of atmosphere, if he were to dance it would only be because of his partner.
Huaisang can't help but smile again and he doesn't believe that Xichen isn't much for this dancing -- he's seen him do it after all. Huaisang decides that he's a bit tired of the ploy -- mostly because he does want to dance with Xichen, wants to touch him, steal kisses.
So, his hand goes to Xichen's thigh and he leans forward quickly to press his lips to the other's, kissing him. He hopes that doing so, it answers the other's question, would love to know the other could recognize him by his kiss.
His entire body goes still when she puts her hand on his thigh, the pleasant friendliness completely disappearing from his expression. Before he can say anything about it, however, she's leaning forward to kiss him, so quickly that he doesn't have time to get over his surprise before her lips are on his.
His hand has already snapped out to grip her upper arm in preparation to pull away by the time his mind catches up - by the time he realizes he knows this kiss, and he knows those eyes.
He lets go of her - his arm, instead reaching up to cup the side of his face as he kisses him back briefly before breaking the kiss to look him in the eyes.
"A-Sang. What-?" That's as much as he can get out at the moment, the tips of his ears going a little red as he reconsiders their conversation in a new light.
Huaisang is still looking mischievious and very, very pleased with himself as they part from the kiss and he settles on Xichen's lap, smoothing his dress instead of settling back into the chair he'd been sitting in before moving to steal that kiss.
"Surprise," he hums, leaning in to kiss him again. "You sure you don't want to dance?"
Oh, he has so many questions - but he also loves this look on Huaisang, and he must admit to being curious to see why Huaisang is dressed like this.
"Mmm." He leans in to steal another kiss, letting himself rest his hands on Huaisang's thighs, over his stockings. "You have convinced me. How can I refuse such a beauty?"
There is a faint gleam in his eyes that makes it obvious that he's enjoying himself, to anyone who knows him, but despite that his words are as genuine as they always are, when he compliments Huaisang.
Huaisang laughs though there's a bit of a hitch in it. The other's hands on his thighs when he's dressed like this in public? It's exciting and sends a thrill of pleasure through him. "You certainly can't."
He leans in to kiss the other again, tongue brushing against his lips before pulling back and slipping off of his lap only to pull Xichen up so they could go dance.
He's completely unable to keep his hands off him, as he follows him to the dance floor. One hand resting low on his back as they walk, pulling him close just to steal another kiss, fingertips lingering over the curve of his neck or the neckline of his dress.
By the time they make it to the group of people dancing, he feels almost as though he's a little intoxicated on the ability to touch Huaisang like this, even though he hasn't had any alcohol tonight.
"You're so beautiful, sweetheart, look at you," he murmurs as he pulls Huaisang in close again.
Huaisang is pleased with the way Xichen is acting. He relishes every touch and that the other just can't seem to stop. He kisses him back and it's the first time there's been any public display between them and people still wouldn't realize who Xichen is with.
As they get to the dance floor he starts to dance very close, one arm hanging over the other's shoulder as he looks up at him. "I was hoping you'd like it," Huaisang smiles, leaning up to press another kiss to the other's lips.
If he could think about anything other than being able to touch and kiss Huaisang like this, he'd probably realize that he's likely making things awkward for himself. There are many people here who know who he is, who'll see him completely wrapped up in some beautiful woman - but honestly, even if he did realize it, he's not sure he'd care. He's thoroughly taken, and if Huaisang isn't ready to reveal their relationship, then what does it matter if people think he's head over heels for some mystery woman?
His arm slides around Huaisang's waist when the other starts dancing close to him, pressing himself against him as he matches his movements. "It's you, A-Sang, I cannot think of anything I wouldn't like with you."
But then, lest he think that Xichen's only enjoying this for Huaisang's sake, he sprays his palm over the material of the dress, lets his other hand cup Huaisang's face and his thumb brush against his lips. "I like it," he clarifies. "I like having you like this, looking so pretty and soft."
Huaisang watches Xichen's face as their dancing, bodies pressed close and Huaisang is biding his time to just move to grinding against Xichen until the other couldn't take it anymore. For now it's slightly more innocent than that. His heart is racing as he meets the other's eyes.
Xichen makes him feel wanted as he touches Huaisang, the thumb that slid across his lips and Huaisang's pink tongue darted out to lick. "I can dress up more for you," Huaisang smirks. Needless to say he has a closet full of women's clothes and heals, make up and no short amount of lingerie. His interest in cross dressing is one that goes pretty far back.
There's a soft inhale at the implication that Huaisang has more where this came from - that he'd wear it specifically for Lan Xichen. His pupils dilate a little as Huaisang licks at his thumb, eyes dark and hungry.
"I'd like that." It is, admittedly, not something he'd really thought about before, but oh, he is thinking about it now. It's easy to imagine Huaisang in silk and satin and lace, dressed up so pretty for him, the way he might let Lan Xichen spread him out and tell him how pretty he is, how he was made for this.
There's a little electric thrill as he wonders how far Huaisang might want to take this.
Huaisang notes the way the other reacts, enjoying it, enjoying that the gamble he had made with him paid off in this way. He dances in closer, grinding against the other's thigh as he lets it slip between his legs. It's lewd and the fact that it's public thrills Huaisang.
"Like I'm the most beautiful thing you've ever seen."
