Huaisang frowns at Wangji for that but he lets his thumb brush along the other's cheekbone. It still terrifies him to see the other injured, fear of losing him a sinking feeling that curls through him even as he knows he's alright.
He squeezes the other's hand.
"I know," he says, glancing over the other again and his fingers drawing near one of the wounds in a light touch but not quite on it, brows furrowed.
He knows his lover's fussing is because he worries, and cares, and it warms him instead of instilling any irritation. Wangji lifts the other's hand up and presses a kiss to fingers. They both know it won't stop him from going out to help those in desperate need.
The hand near a wound doesn't make him flinch. Huaisang won't purposely hurt him. "I would rather fight than put you in danger," he murmurs after a moment.
"I will not leave until you are satisfied with my recovery." And maybe a bit after that...
Huaisang doesn't venture too close just inspecting them and the work the healers had done to make sure it's all quite adequate. He sighs and brings the other's knuckles to his lips and the flippant facade he puts to the outside is down and he looks tired and concerned, the weight of his position there.
"I wouldn't forgive myself if something worse had happened because you were trying to keep me out of danger," Huaisang frowns, kissing his knuckles again.
