"I'm calling our lack of restraint out," he counters, but he leans into the kiss before picking his boyfriend up and carrying him to the balcony. And then he comes back with the food a second later.

"We can last out the sun."

Gar laughs when Tommy lifts him up and wraps his arms around him for the brief trip to the balcony, waiting for him to return.

"Do you think it'll be this beautiful every time?"

"If it's with you? Yeah."

Fuck, he loves this guy. Tommy uncovers all of the food and pulls a table and chair up.

Gar smiles as he watches Tommy and it’s hard to even think about food over how much he loves him and how unbelievably happy he is right now. He leans his arms on the table though.

“I love you so much.” There’s a beautiful sunset still but he can’t help but look at Tommy

Loves. A word that Tommy really needs to use more. To say and not be afraid that the guy is going to evaporate. But he perches on a lounger and dips a strawberry into chocolate and smiles.

"I... thank you," Tommy says. He wants to say it too, but there is no denying the fear in his eyes. How scared he is of the words. Gar's definitely heard enough about how Tommy was abandoned by his parents to maybe figure out why.

Gar doesn’t expect it of Tommy. There’s still a twinge somewhere inside of him that he actively ignores, that he won’t show because Gar doesn’t do that. Gar hides all of his own sadness and damage and trauma behind smiles that everyone believes and takes for granted. Then again, most people don’t know what he’s been through and he outwardly shakes it off so easily that people who do don’t know any differently. All the same... he knows Tommy does love him even if he can’t say it. And all Gar can do is be there anyway.

So Gar just gives him a grin and turns his attention to the food. “Okay it’s as good as it looks.”

He feels so guilty. So instead he reaches across after he's had his berry and takes Gar's hand. And licks his lips.

"I do too, Gar. You. That thing. Can... can we just have another word for me saying it? So I can, you know.... without saying it?"

Because they're heroes. And if he says it, he'll lose Gar instantly. He can't say the word itself.

That surprises Gar. He squeezes the others hand and shakes his head.

“You don’t have to say anything, Tommy. I know,” and he tries not to say it but god sometimes things just feel so intense it bubbles out. And he feels guilty for the look on his boyfriend’s face.

He grabs another bite of food with his free hand.

“You... look hurt when i don’t say it back. I hate that.”

[garrrr]

“I don’t mean to...” Gar says, looking away from Tommy then. “I’m sorry.”

Gar looks down at their hands. Tommy sees him more than anyone else and sometimes he doesn’t even realize it. He brings Tommy’s hand to his cheek, nuzzling it.

“I don’t need you to say it, I mean it. I know how you feel.” And it does hurt a little when Tommy doesn’t say it even if he doesn’t want it to hurt. It doesn’t seem fair to Tommy.

“I... can’t. If I say it, something will take you from me,” Tommy says. That the world has most definitely taught him. It’s scary enough to love Gar. It’s terrifying that Gar knows it. The chance that he’ll lose the guy if he says it out loud, though. That’s... unfathomable. “Losing you would kill me.”

[garrrr]

“You will never lose me,” Gar says and he presses his lips to the others hand, smiling. “Hawaii is too beautiful to be sad in Tommy.”

And yet he's sad anyway. Because he's failing. Tommy... pulls his lover closer and holds him tightly.

"I wanna be happy here."

[garrrr]

“Then just remember we’re both here and we’re good. And this food is not gonna eat itself and then... you can show me how much you care about me,” Gar nudges him gently but he also just turns into the other more. This is all he really needs.

If only Tommy believed it was true. That Gar didn't worry constantly. For now he accepts it for what it is. And he gestures at Gar.

"Sit in my lap while we eat?"

[garrrr]

Gar shifts to climb into Tommy’s lap happy to do so. “You’re more comfortable anyway.”

"Thanks," Tommy smiles, nuzzling his partner's neck before reaching for more fruit.

[garrrr]

Gar starts to eat again. He is pretty sure they both are still feeling guilty. There’s a sort of heaviness that still lingers in the air and he doesn’t know what to do about it but snuggle in close and eat dinner with Tommy.

“It’s crazy I feel like I can hear the ocean from here.”

"I can," Tommy answers, because he can hear it. Especially when he closes his eyes. They'll figure it out. They have to. Tommy smiles and kisses his boyfriend's neck before starting to have a piece of bread dipped in the chocolate.

"You're almost as sweet as this."

[garrrr]

Gar just laughs. “I am definitely not nearly as sweet as chocolate,” he protests but it’s good natured. Gar teasingly grabs Tommy’s wrist to guide that piece into his own mouth instead of Tommy’s.

Wow, how rude. Tommy laughs and lets Gar take the food. He is pleased when he goes ahead and takes another piece for himself.

[garrrr]

Gar nuzzles the other's shoulder after eating that piece. A little while later he took one of the strawberries and dipped it in chocolate shifting to offer it to Tommy.

They’re doing this? Totally awesome. Tommy loves the idea that they’re doing this and being so insanely sappy and silly. Just don’t tell his team because wow they will tease him for him finally giving in and being like this.

He takes the strawberry and wraps his mouth around it, but makes sure his tongue flickered over Gar’s fingers.

Gar grins a the feeling of the other's tongue. He leans in to kiss him after pulling his hand away from the other's mouth. The taste of chocolate on his lips.

Mmmm, chocolate. Tommy hums happily against that taste, his fingers curling in his partner's hair. And at last he pulls away, shaking his head.

"Incorrigible."
