Wei Wuxian is lounging on a low tree branch. One leg dangling over the side while the other is bent at the knee with the foot on top it. His head is resting against the trunk in a picture of relaxation. It's peaceful and he can hear leaves falling all around him. His eyes shut as he contemplates taking a short nap before continuing on with his day. The foot that dangles swings back and forth, toe of his shoe dragging along the blades of grass. The weather is getting cooler but it is always just a touch colder in Gusu then anywhere else anyway. It's hardly something he notices anymore.
Perhaps he has forgotten the date, or merely doesn't find the importance of being another year older to have any real significance. After all the things he has experienced, a birthday seems like just another day. But at least this day seems to be a good one as far as weather is concerned. He could easily spend it all right here in this tree. He knows there is probably other things he should be doing but for now he is content.
If he hears the quiet rustle of robes through leaves, he doesn't make any sort of indication. Instead he just pretends that he is asleep as he lets the breeze blow the long pieces of his hair gently against his face.
Lan Wangji is well aware it is the day that Wei Wuxian turns another year older. It perhaps is a strange thing considering the events of their lives to make any note of it at all. Time proves not to be completely linear between them. However, he still makes his way to find Wuxian, one hand behind his back and the other holding his scabbard as usual.
"Wei Ying," he says calmly, not all that soft or harsh. He knows when the other is faking it but he doesn't say as much.
He cracks one eye open as he hears his name, knowing that the other man was there and would call him out. He can't help the smile that comes to his lips as he looks at the other man with that one eye. "Yes Lan Zhan? Is there something you need or are you here to enjoy the weather too?"
He could gladly spend all day right in that spot. But he knows that there are probably other things that need to be done.
Wangji watches the smile that overcomes the other's lips and it as always makes his heart do a little flutter. There's a hint of a smile on his own lips if the other can see clearly enough.
He doesn't say anything and instead brings out the items behind his back held with one hand, some peanuts and emperor's smile which he offers to the other silently.
"Oooh...Lan Zhan has brought presents." His grin broadens as he pushes himself up away from the tree trunk so he can sit up straight on the branch. "Do you have a destination in mind for partaking in these things?"
He hops off the branch and stretches his hands up to the air as he stands up straight. He works the stiffness out of his body that was caused by his position on the tree.
He opens his arms wide and does a circle around to indicate the place they currently stand. "How about a picnic? Nothing better then enjoying a nice day with good wine, good snacks and good company."
He stops spinning and puts his hands on his hips as he resumes looking at his soulmate.
"Mm," Wangji agrees quietly as he glances around the area. It's nice and peaceful and they're unlikely to be disturbed which is generally a good thing when Wuxian is drinking -- in his opinion.
He hardly thinks he is the one that causes a problem when drinking. But then again, he isn't the one that has to deal with himself. But he is sure that his drinking habits can't possibly be as troublesome as when Lan Zhan takes a sip.
He reaches out and grabs Lan Zhan's wrist to pull him towards a good spot to sit down so they can start their party. "How did you know where to find me?"
"Mmhm..." He starts to reach for one of the bottles. "Have you escaped from your duties of the day just to have a picnic with me?"
He knows how much Lan Zhan has to do in the course of the day. Far more responsibilities then a certain former patriarch. Sometimes he does help with the juniors but for the most part his days are far less stressful.
Wangji answers. There were many times when such frivolities weren't possible but today is special enough that it seems reasonable to do so. So, he had adjusted his schedule, woke even earlier than usual and would be up later than truly allowed.
"No~?" He pouts and tilts his head a little as he looks at the other man. "Are you going to have to rush away after our picnic or do you have more plans for us?"
It is hard to keep the quirk of a smile from his lips and to keep any sort of teasing lift to his voice. If he is pushing to try and pry information out of the other man as to his plans...well hopefully it doesn't backfire on him.
"No," to both. He isn't going to rush away but he has not made plans either.
"Up to you," he offers in a quiet voice a hint of a smile coming to his lips. Whatever whims Wuxian has he will follow without complaint this afternoon.
"Oooh~ That can be dangerous Lan Zhan. You never know what I could request." He grins as he leans forward so he can draw closer to the other man. There are so many things he could say that they should do when given free rein on the day.
His eyes gleam rather mischievously once in the closer proximity. He bumps his nose against the other while their heads are touching. "You're almost going to be showing me affection in public, Lan Zhan."
Not that anyone is around but he can't help but try to bring light to the fact that someone could just walk by and notice how close they are. Not that they are particularly secretive about things.
"Wei Ying," Wangji says softly before pulling back slightly. It's mostly a tease in response to the comment and there's a hint of amusement on his face.
He's not worried that they would be disturbed. He's fairly certain they won't be.
"Lan Zhan~" He simply says his name back at him in a sing-song voice before smiling and sitting up straight again. He raises the wine to his lips and takes a nice long drink from it, some of it always escapes down his chin.
He lowers it back down with a satisfied sigh. Still is and always will be the best tasting wine. It is even better when Lan Zhan brings it to him.
He watches Wei Ying with a small hint of a smile still remaining in his expression. He knows he shouldn't encourage the other's drinking -- but whether he did or not it wouldn't really slow the other's habit. Still it is a special day and not one to comment on Wei Ying's vice of choice.
"That is a dangerous question, Lan Zhan." He laughs and puts one hand behind him to hold himself up as he leans on it. "I could desire a lot of things. Are you going to fulfill them all if I do?"
"What if I want you to lavish me with attention all day? Or I could ask you to do lewd things in public." He is sure there are some limitations to what the man would be willing to do. But that also means that Wei Wuxian would be determined to figure out what those limitations would be.
Wangji has a feeling that the other would not push him beyond his limits to far and if he does -- well, he is a man of his word is he not? He trusts him, though.
"This really is a special day." He grins as he puts a hand behind him on the ground, leaning on it while he still holds the wine jar in his free hand. "I am going to have to make sure all my requests are really good."
let me know if this is okay!
