For Huaisang - spoils of war au!
Lan Xichen returns immediately, listening to the guard's explanation as they move quickly, and shaking his head when the guard starts to ask about precautions and punishments and if he should send for Wangji.
No. No, Lan Xichen needs to be the one to take care of this - he has been too trusting, it seems, allowed Huaisang too much freedom, had too much hope. There's a bitter sting of betrayal in his heart, sharp and cutting and twisted by the fondness he feels for his bride - the fondness he thought was returned.
Huaisang has been locked in one of their rooms meant for seclusion, for self reflection and isolation - no windows, no books, no canvases and paints, none of his fine things. Lan Xichen hadn't asked for him to be restrained, however - this time he intends to do everything himself. He slams open the door when he arrives, sealing it shut behind him with a quick talisman, and strides over to Huaisang quicker than he's ever moved around him before.
His hand is on Huaisang's throat within a second, and he lifts him up by it, pinning him against the wall.
"You tried to climb out?" There's a cold rage in every word, and his fingers press harder in Huaisang's neck. "Do you know how badly you could have been hurt?"

What Huaisang does not expect is the fury that Xichen arrives in, the dread turned into fear quickly and he wants to scramble away but there's really no where to go and Lan Xichen is quick. He's so quick to put his hand on Huaisang's neck and instantly the smaller man's hands go to the other's hand around his neck, panic filling him. He'd never seen Xichen angry like this. Is it going to end? Is this going to be how he dies, strangled to death by Lan Xichen? He gasps in what air he can, hands clawing at the other's and maybe he could breath more easily if he wasn't so scared.

Or at least, the world at large thinks it's been abandoned, but Lan Xichen's clan is still very much here. People come to visit, sometimes, and are either turned away or granted access to some of the Lan power - depending on the mood of the disciple who finds them. No one's come in a while, though, and they've been slumbering for some time.
Lan Xichen'd only stirred when he'd felt the vibrations that came from the wards they'd placed on the area - it's his turn to be on guard, and so he untangles himself from his brother's sleeping form and slips into the springs, using the water ways to travel to where the ward had been crossed. It's a cave some distance away, and the storm that rages outside gives him a pretty good idea for why someone might have taken refuge in it.
It's been a while, but he still remembers how to slip into a human form as he slides out of the springs, approaching the young man in the cave.
"Are you lost?"

Peace was hard-fought and won, the Mikaelsons are gone from New Orleans and Marcel Gerard along with them. The factions are working together and at the end of the day, Vincent is settled in as the leader of the Covens, head witch in charge, the Regent as it is called.
It was not a job he wanted but it was a job he had to take, he had tried to push it onto others, to walk away and that turned into a right mess and still stands as one of the things he regrets.

The ceremony was appropriate, if kept to their clan and select other clan heads (those who at least accepted the arrangement enough not to cause trouble) for sect leader and heir. There's a lightness to Mingjue's step as he leads his brother-husband to their rooms, anticipation thrumming through him the closer they get. And oh, Lan Xichen had liked Mingjue. He understands why his mate has such an attachment to his brother, and he'd been more determined than ever to give Huaisang what he wanted and take Mingjue as their lover. So a date for the visit was set, and preparations went underway - and then only a few days ago, he'd received notice that Mingjue would be able to arrive two days earlier than planned. He'd been pleased - but he hadn't told Huaisang. He feels a little bit guilty, but, well. He knows his little mate is nervous about his brother visiting, nervous that he'll be disappointed to see him like this and he won't want what Lan Xichen and Huaisang are going to propose.
